In this section you will learn how to make short tops which are very commonly used . Image representation is shown.
This type of short kurta are called as short tops.
To make these kurti one need to consider followings points & need to do some choicesÂ
- Material selection
- Size selection
Point no. 1 –Â Material selectionÂ
This point looks very simple but it is not easy. Following points can be considered while selecting material –Â
a) Current seasonÂ
b) Colour of fabricÂ
c) Availability of materialÂ
d) Life of material selected
e) Quality of fabric available
f) Width of fabric – 36″ , 42″ , 44″ and like
g) Cost of materialÂ
&Â some more points based on our own analysis.
Once material is selected we can move to size selection.
Point no. 2 – Size selectionÂ
This point will help you to select for which size you have to stitch your top.
If you are a women / girl and making it for your own then size of kurti top will be of your size.
But if your stitching it for your customer or near one then you need to ask for their measurement size likeÂ
S , M , L , XL , XXL , XXXL &Â so on.Â
Once your are clear about size you can start your next section.
But if size is not clear you need to take basic body measurement of person for whom this top is required.

Left side picture shows various basic dimension of top.Â
* Size –
Size is size of your body like for 34 ” body measurement you can select 36″ size garment & hence can be S size garment.
* Height –
Height is dimension for vertical height of top.Â
This can be as minimum as 24″ to maximum as per ones height.Â
In referred image it is considered as 27 which is quite comfortable.
*Sleeve length –Â
Sleeve length can be as per our choice.
- Sleeveless
- Half sleeves
- Quarter sleeves
- Full sleeves
In referred photo sleeve length is selected as 17″
*Waist & hip dimension –Â
These dimension can be co-related with your body size & can be selected from chart.
This completes basic body dimensions.Â
